Habitara is a free self-assistant application that helps its users become more productive while ensuring consistency in their daily to-do tasks, thereby enabling them to make the most of their time.
People often find it challenging to maintain consistency and focus while working towards achieving their short-term and long-term goals.
To develop a platform that enables individuals to cultivate new habits by creating flexible daily schedules and monitoring their productivity performance.
I conducted several in-person interviews with a diverse group of people, encompassing various age groups, backgrounds, and levels of digital literacy. During these interviews, I asked a series of open-ended questions to gain insights into their unique perspectives and pain points.
Conducted a comprehensive competitive audit on Habitara's direct and indirect competitors, with a focus on performing SWOT analysis to identify opportunities for differentiating in the market and better serving the target audience
I crafted a user flow map, meticulously outlining the optimal path for users based on the "How Might We" statement. Through close collaboration with the product manager and the development team, we engaged in an iterative process to refine and solidify the user flow, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with the technical capabilities. Additionally, leveraging this comprehensive user flow map, I meticulously compiled a comprehensive list of all the screens that require thoughtful design and implementation.
Influenced by the User Journey, I sketched all the screens and built a paper prototype. I iterated over moderate usability testing and modified the design. Then I created the low-fidelity prototype, iterated over moderate and unmoderated usability testing, and modified the design accordingly. As the next step, I created a mid-fidelity prototype and conducted additional testing, followed by revisions through the design thinking process to enhance the wireframes and the prototype.
Using data collected from user interviews and usability testing, I made design modifications to improve user expectations and experiences. Here are two examples of the changes implemented:
Keeping users in mind, I created a moodboard from the designs that were most suitable for Habitara. Drawing inspiration from the moodboard, I then crafted the final look and feel of the app, defining the branding and designing all the screens. Finally, I built a high-fidelity prototype.
The design aims to simplify the process of creating a new task in the app. Users can quickly create a task by inputting details such as the name, priority level, and time to invest. The app automatically generates time estimates for the week, month, and year based on the user's input for daily time investment. Users can also modify the time estimates for the week, month, or year, with the app automatically updating the other sections accordingly.
When the user starts the task by tapping the "start" button, a timer begins counting down, and a progress bar shows the task completion progress. The aim is to motivate the user to complete the task. When the timer ends, the user can choose to finish the task, continue working on it, or put it on hold for later.
The app tracks and records user performance as they complete tasks daily. It generates reports for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly performance, providing insights into how time is spent. The reports highlight tasks with the most and least time invested, giving users a deeper understanding of their time usage.
When it comes to user-centric design, it is crucial to consider all users, including those with different needs. Therefore, I created a light version of the app that is accessible and easy to use for all users.
As part of the design process, I developed design guidelines for the app, which included descriptions of the font system and brand colors.
A total of 84 screens have been designed, 10 prototypes have been built, and over 37 user interviews have been conducted.
This app allows people to develop new habits, no matter how complex. By investing enough hours in any task, anyone can learn and potentially master that task. The Habitara app assists people in staying consistent in investing hours in the habits they wish to adopt. The app is currently in the development phase and should be available on the app store soon.
